Three things that are important in interviewing is being friendly, asking well planned out questions, and taking notes. If your approach isn't friendly, the person your interviewing will get the wrong vibe and won't feel comfortable during the interview. It's always good to plan out what your going to ask, so they can be unqiue and that your prepared for what your going to ask. It's always important to take notes! That way you can put your story together and to see whats not imporant and what is.
Two things I will try for the future is using as many qoutes as possible and asking questions that aren't so vague or repeative.

One thing I found funny was the qoutes in the second-to-last paragraph on pg. #97. When reporters threaten people to get their story.

Reading 2

I read an article in the Chicago Tribune, the article was titled After Oak Lawn bridal shop fire, panic and kindness by Tribune reporter Cynthia Dizikes. I really liked the article because of how nice people were when they found out that a lot of people's dresses burnt down. People donated their dresses & so did stores. It shows how kind people are sometimes when you're least expecting it.
The article by Gail Collins is very detalied but I didn't really find it interesting because I don't really like politics

November paper production #1

In order to print the paper a lot has to be done. The paper has to be revise many times and try to make everything organize and the names have to be spell correctly. As well match with the corresponding person.

I think what takes most is to decide what to write about and to actualy go interview people if you are a shy person, not so talkative.

There are more storys just because we have a huge class and there is another class 5th period. This leads to less stuff being publish.

All storys have to be rivise and edit regarless if they are goin to be publish or not. Thats just practice for us. The best of all are the onces that get laid-out.

As a reporter you have to go and get what you need to write your piece. As for me I have to good look for 6 different people that I wouldn't talk to just so I wont interview my friends.

I think i did meet my deadlines for my draft and the rivise. I might of been a little too late but I finish as soon as possible.

I still dont have a picture for my story because I am not sure if any of my storys are going to be publish. When they tell me that they are going to get publish i'll go and find them for their picture.

I dont have any questions about my story, nor a comment.

October Star critique, News Judgment

October critique
1. -I like all the spirt week pictures
-I like the article "What to expect when you're expecting at Steinmetz" but it was based on
one person
-I like my photo opinion
-I didn't like that the "Archery is coming soon" didn't include a picture to show what activity
it was.
2. Photo Opinion was not as easy as i figure it would be but over all it was easy. I had trouble finding a freshman, a sophomore, and a junior

October Star
The adviser's news judgment result in "Homecoming lifts spirits" being the first page because it was what everybody was waiting to hear who had won homecoming king and queen. Also the it was what everyone was talking about.

"Freshy Friday didn't break the piggy bank" was place below because even thought it was not as big news as who won homecoming it was still something everybody else looks foward to execpt the freshman.Even though every other story was good it was not really eye catching as Homecomin and Freshy Friday.

The Guitar club might of been more interesting then Ms. Ryan's story.
Dwayne Wade
"The biggest thing is to let your voice be heard, let your story be herd. A lot of things have been siad about me... but at the end of the day my concern is for my kids," was a quote that was not included int the Tribune.

Dwyane Wade was acused of many allegations of being an abusive toward his ex-wife and his sons. Making him seem like an aggressive person; the bad guy.

"Punishment", "We support you" were quotes that were in the Tribune but not in the Sun-Times. The Sun-Times didnt not meantion that how Siohvaughn Wade has change from when she first meet in high school.

The angle of the story was to make it seem like his ex-wife was the one that started everything and he was just trying to make the best of it.

The Tribune might have not put this stroy in the first page because they might not have thought it was very important to readers.
